the global warming

Our research was about global warming. In our research we were very interested in knowing how much information people know about it, specially students at SIU. 10 surveys were passed out to students at the students' center. Among the students inquired, we have 6 women and 4 men, whose ages range between 19 and 25 years. Also, among the students inquired we have 4 students studying science, 1 is studying engineering, another one is studying liberal arts and 4 are in different majors not listed in the survey. According to the surveys, students are well informed about global warming and most of them are using energy appliances to help the environment and to save money as well.

Mt hypotheses is based on women care more about what it is happening with global warming. Actual surveys showed that women are more concerned about the earth warming and the US goverment should fight against global warming. It is also very interesting to know many students are beginning to use enery efficiency appliances at home, which it means they are already helping the environment any way.I learned that any students know about global warming and demand the goverment for soultions to this issue.

Our group’s survey in this term is about global warming. I asked 10 students to circle the answers for the survey in SIUC Students’ Center on Tuesday afternoon, so they are all among 19 to 24 and 7 out of which are females. Obviously, my result stands for young people’s opinions. Through this survey I wanted to know how much people know about global warming and if they can carry out some solutions. However, this has no strong connections between the majors and the knowledge of this issue according to my survey. It shows global warming has become a household word.

Before passing out the survey, I thought there would be evident relations between the majors and the knowledge of this issue. And I thought most people would think it was necessary to stop global warming and the fact is so. What interests me is most of them think the US government doesn’t do well in fighting global warming. They are very honest. Through the result I learn that Americans are very environmentally friendly and responsible. They care much about the climate changes amd the ways to improve the living conditions. Thanks for their cooperation.

THE GLOBAL WARMING( GROUP WORK)

THE GLOBAL WARMING

What is the global warming? The global warming means to increase the average temperature of the Earth"s near surface air and oceans. The Earth"s climate changes because of volcanic eruptions and atmospheric greenhouse gas concentrations. What is greenhouse? Greenhouse gases is the process by which absorpion and emission of infrared radiation by atmospheric gases warm a planet"s lower atmosphere and surface. The major greenhouse gases are water vapor, including the carbon dioxide, methane and ozone.

EFFECTS OF GLOBAL WARMING

The effects of global warming on the environment and for human life are numerous and varied. Among some effects we have: climate change, rising sea level, glacier retreat, Arctic shrinkage, agriculture changes, tropical diseases, and changing in the time of seasonal patterns in ecosystems.

HOW TO FIGHT GLOBAL WARMING

Keep in mind that the biggest cause of global warming is CARBON DIOXIDE released when fossil fuels like oil and coal are burned for energy. Also, keep in mind that when you save energy, you fight global warming and save money above all.Important steps you can take to begin saving energy:
1- Raise you voice: We need new laws for the solution to global warming.
2- Choose an efficient vehicle: When buying your next car, pick the least polluting.
3- Buy energy- effiency appliances: Buy energy - efficiency model, they might be more expensive, but you save a lot of energy.
4- Replace you bulbs with compact flourescent bulbs:They will lower you energy bills.
5- Choose renewable energy: Pick a company that generates at least half of its power fom wind, solar energy and other clean sources.
STUDENT"S OPINION ABOUT GLOBAL WARMING

In my opinion, this is a very interesting article to be researched because it teaches you the different ways we as people destroy our environment as well as the ways we can put into practice to keep it safe. My summary is focused on the most important aspects that people must know and keep in mind. It is time to open our eyes and see what it is happening to our planet and begin talking about the different strategies that can be used to protect the environment against the global warming. I also want to place emphasis that this an issue where everybody has to be part because any effect of global warming will destroy rich people, poor people, developed countries(MDCs), underdevelped countries(LDCs)white people, black people, singers, non singers, professionals, celebrities and animals as well. Once you take time reading my summary, you will see that you can also do something to protect your environment. For example, there are many people who use cars for short trips, when this could be done by walking, biking or using mass transit. Another example is to turn off the unneeded lights. Wherever you go, you see lights on, and nobody is in the house. As a said before, this is an issue where you can also help by putting into practice some of the ideas before mentioned. It"s simple. After reading my summary as well as the ideas given, stop talking about global warming, stop making excuses for not protecting it, stoping putting blame into people, govement and people in general and begin doing your best you can to protect it. Remember that land was given by GOD, and you decide, you take care of it, or you destroy it.

Global warming 'may cut deaths'

My article is Global warming ‘may cut deaths’. England will have deadly heat waves within 10 years and cause more than 60 deaths in summer. However, the U.K. has about 20,000 deaths by coldness every winter. For the moment, deaths by heat have not increased, and deaths by coldness have declined in the U.K. because winter is milder. Next, Higher temperature will make other problems serious; we will have higher rates of asthmatics, skin cancer and food poisonings, but it will prevent cancer of other parts, malaria and vector-borne diseases. Finally, it is important to prepare for global warming; government should stop it through recycling and health service should provide for the diseases by climate changes.

Global warming is not always bad, but it brings big changes; high rates of skin cancer and food poisonings. People have new things to care more than present. People have to use sun screens and wear sun glasses. People also should check food is ok or spoiled and preserve food in refrigerators. However, if the earth becomes too hot, we cannot survive. Therefore, we have to prevent global warming. We can do many things; stopping plastic bags, air conditioners and cars. Plants (leaves) can consume carbon dioxide so it is good to have more greens.

Nations must fight climate change like terrorism, Rice says

My article is from CNN, whose name is Nations must fight climate change like terrorism, Rice says. This article talks about the global warming, it mentions the Kyoto Protocol which mandates limits on emissions and signed by more than 150 countries all around the world. It mainly tells us we should do our best to fight climate change as we are under the terrorists' attack. And it contains some words said by some experts or officers in several international organizations.

In my opinion, global warming is a serious problem to be solved. As Rice and Bush said, all nations should and must fight it as an enemy. But as we know, US quited the Kyoto Protocol in 2001, having the biggest discharge amount of carbon dioxide. And Australia has neither joined the Kyoto Protocol yet with the second biggest discharge. Some days before I confused that whether China joined the Kyoto Protocol, I have confirmed today China signed it in 1998. So I think all nations especially the countries who have high discharge amount of carbon dioxide should try to reduce their discharges. And fortunately, researches' results show that reducing the discharge of carbon dioxide won't slow down the economy increases. Thank you.
